Conquering busy urban tiles without the traffic stress
City centres can feel intimidating to ride through. These simple tactics will help you collect urban tiles safely and efficiently.
Early mornings (6–8 AM on weekdays, 7–9 AM on weekends) are ideal for urban tile hunting. Roads are quiet, parking spots are empty and you'll find far fewer delivery vans blocking cycle lanes.
City centres often have one-way systems that make it hard to cross certain boundaries. Study the map beforehand and identify which streets allow you to enter from both directions.
Pavements and pedestrian zones usually don't count — make sure your GPS is recording an actual ride on a mapped road when you cross a tile boundary.
If a tile covers a busy junction or roundabout, approach it from a side street rather than the main road. You still cross the boundary but avoid the heaviest traffic.
