How to plan a ride that hits more tiles
Most riders leave dozens of tiles on the table by taking the same roads. Here's how to use free tools to squeeze every boundary crossing out of a single outing.
Open the TileTally map before you head out and zoom into your target area. Unvisited tiles show as light grey — these are your targets.
Use Strava's Route Builder (or Komoot) and manually drag the route through the grey tiles. Aim to cross the boundary of each tile, not just ride through the middle — a quick in-and-out still counts.
On a typical 60 km ride around Amsterdam or Amstelveen you can realistically visit 8–12 new postal code areas if you plan the route in advance versus 2–3 if you just ride freely.
Pro tip: look for tiles that share a boundary — a single road can cross two tiles at once. Prioritise these junction points to double your score per kilometre.
